This is my little spot on the web for information regarding my Sharp Zaurus. I've recently started using my Zaurus more and more for work. This has sparked a new interest for me. I'll try to keep this site a little more updated as I learn new things. For the most part my Zaurus works just the way I want it to work. Current specs on my Zaurus: Sharp ROM 3.13; SMC WI-FI Card, Viking 256MB CF Card, SimpleTech 128MB SD Card, Piel Frama Leather Case, Pilot Pentopia Stylus. Some other toys that go with my Zaurus: Canon Elf S230 and a Lexar FireWire CF reader.
Here's a zaurus theme howto I'm working on.

I just recently upgraded to the new 3.13 ROM from Sharp. I haven't really noticed much change from the 3.10 ROM. I've started creating themes and I'll try and post them here as often as possible. You can dowload them either fro this site or from Zaurus User Group. Click here to see my themes.

My latest project has been the modification of a program called mailcheck. I modified it to blink the LED's and make sounds when new e-mail arrives. Check it out: zmailcheck. The README explains a little more in detail.
Before ROM version 3.10 was available I bought ZStyle so that I could have background images on my Zaurus. The program only cost $5 and was well worth the money. Below are some wallpapers in PNG format that I created. Thanks to this guy for the original gears background. I used Photoshop to alter it and add Gir, Tux, and the OPIE Penguin :)

And an action shot:

Below are some screenshots of the new icons I installed. I used Tab Manager and Jed to modiy all the .desktop files and mime.types. The icons were grabbed from http://art.gnome.org and http://www.everaldo.com/. I converted all the 48x48 gnome icons into a handy 32x32 size using Photoshop. The crystal icons can be downloaded from linuxcult.com. The download contains the icons in every size needed. I used "ln -s" to link the icons from my SD card. Have fun!

Below is a script I wrote to randomize the boot startup images. updated 10.31.2002
#!/bin/bash

# $RANDOM returns a different random integer at each invocation.
# Nominal range: 0 - 32767 (signed 16-bit integer).

RANGE=`ls -l /home/root/boot_screens/ | grep -c bmp`

echo

number=$RANDOM
let "number %= $RANGE"
exec  sdisp "/home/root/boot_screens/Startup_screen"$number".bmp"
echo

exit 0

I created the directory /home/root/boot_screens/ for all my startup images. The script gets called from qpe.sh like the normal startup image.

The following are screenshots of kismet running in color. I clicked on the kismet icon to launch this in a terminal. :) For now check out this for info on how I did it.
